My name is Kelly Schmitt Youngberg, and I curate the collection here at Ginkgo Dreams. I’ve been fascinated with gingko trees ever since I watched one turn golden in a small courtyard below my third floor apartment in Seoul, South Korea. The intense color, the fan-shaped leaves, and the bright circle that suddenly appeared at the base of the tree one autumn day left a strong impression on my young visual soul.

I’ve wanted to plant a ginkgo tree in our front yard since we bought our house. In preparation, I’ve decided to learn as much as I can about ginkgo trees. I’ve noticed that ginkgo leaves are frequently used as a design motif, and as I’ve looked for ways to incorporate a ginkgo theme into our home, I’ve found some interesting and beautiful products. Ginkgo Dreams is the place where I record the results of both my tree and design research.

Ginkgo biloba has been shown to have some medicinal benefits, but to date my policy is not to post them here. For now, there is enough beauty in the form and knowledge to be learned about cultivation and different types of ginkgo trees.
